Project Overview

The Edinburgh Glasgow Improvement Programme (EGIP) represents one of Scotland’s largest transport infrastructure investments, delivering faster, greener and higher-capacity electric rail services across key intercity routes. As part of the 25kV power system upgrade, ADY-HV was appointed to deliver critical jointing and termination works across both elevated and ground-level infrastructure along the electrified corridor.
Our scope included the installation of Raychem (Tyco/TE Connectivity) and Pfisterer termination systems, alongside straight joints in challenging high-level gantries and restricted low-level enclosures. This work formed part of the successful energisation of the overhead line equipment (OLE) and associated power distribution systems across the EGIP route.

Scope of Works

  • Installation of 25kV Raychem (Tyco) and Pfisterer terminations in line with OLE and substation designs.
  • Jointing of high-voltage cables at both elevated gantry level and low-level cable troughing systems.
  • Use of heat shrink and cold-applied jointing systems tailored to site access and environmental conditions.
  • Cable identification, phasing, and sequencing to ensure correct interface with Network Rail power systems.
  • Assistance with quality assurance and post-installation inspections across multiple EGIP locations.
  • Collaborative working with electrification and civils contractors to meet tight rail possession windows.
